Our approach

Lead with understanding. Follow through with practical action.

Every child has a different learning story. Some need support with academic learning. Others have strengths that aren’t yet fully understood or recognised. Some families already have assessment information but aren’t sure what to do next. We create a welcoming place to talk it through.

Our promise

What you can expect from us.

1

We listen first.

Your observations, your child’s experience and the school’s perspective come before any test.

2

We understand together.

We bring evidence and experience to your questions, and we’re honest about what an assessment can and can’t tell you.

3

We help you move forward.

Every conversation ends with practical, agreed next steps for home and school.

What makes us different

Expert assessment, and a partner for your family.

Relationships first

Professional guidance and an ongoing relationship, so an assessment is the start of the support, not the end.

Start with a conversation

A dedicated consultation before you commit to any testing, valuable in its own right.

The right tool for the question

Established Pearson academic tests and Wadmore cognitive profiling, used only where they answer your question.

Home and school together

Recommendations that fit your child, your family and their classroom.

There when you need us

Come back to review strategies or talk through something new, whenever it’s useful.

Strengths-based

Children are more than their scores. We start with what’s going well.

Clear information. Useful recommendations. A way forward.

Understanding is only the beginning.

An assessment should do more than describe how a child performed on a particular day. It should help you understand what the results mean, why they matter and what to do next. Switch between typical report language and the way we explain the same findings.

1

Phonological processing weaknesses impacting decoding fluency for polysyllabic words.

Sam finds longer words harder to read accurately, so his reading slows down.

2

Standard score of 84 (14th percentile), falling within the below average range.

On this task, about 86 in every 100 children his age scored higher. With targeted practice, this can improve.

3

Relative weakness in working memory capacity affecting written output.

Sam’s spoken ideas are rich, but his written answers are short. Planning support helps him get more onto the page.

4

Recommend explicit, systematic intervention targeting phonological and orthographic skills.

For example, ten minutes a day of structured practice with sounds and letter patterns, at home and at school.

What we do, and what we don’t

Clear about our role.

We provide

  • Educational consultations and learning guidance
  • Academic achievement assessment with established Pearson tests
  • Wadmore cognitive profiling of relative strengths
  • Practical plans and briefs for teachers
  • Help making sense of reports you already have

We don’t provide

  • Psychological or medical diagnoses, such as dyslexia or ADHD
  • Speech pathology or clinical therapy
  • Testing that isn’t needed

When a question needs a diagnosis, we’ll tell you, help you find the right professional, and help you use their findings afterwards.

Let’s begin with a conversation.

You don’t need to have all the answers before getting in touch.
